Summer has officially begun.
The heat is on. We are feeling it.
Much is coming to full bloom and yet, looking closer
we see what refuses to be coaxed in the direction we want it to grow.
For a moment, we stop in disbelief.
What did I miss? What more can I do?
Then recognition sets in.
All is well and right on time.
A garden hosts many blooms.
Some return every year.
Others come back every other year.
And then, there are those who bloom for one season only.
They all have their place in a garden.
Their needs are different.
The gardener’s work is to recognize, accept what is, and do her due diligence.
Only then can a garden grow to its full potential.
What is blooming? What still needs care?
What needs our immediate attention?
What is to be enjoyed?
What is to be left alone for now?
What needs to be lived?

“In a single day, there are thousands of changes.
We are confused by them, delighted by them, upset by them,
dreaming toward them, rejecting them, longing for them,
making predictions for the future about them.
We live in our thoughts instead of our lives.”
